Village Volunteers Yay! We did it! We not only raised the amount needed but more so we were able to broaden our program. Every donation that came in was so exciting to us at the office. Thank you for making it a great holiday season for so many children. Happy New Year!Shana

Village Volunteers We need to provide 560 children with shoes and 170 laying hens for the holiday. These children are in orphan homes, schools and our partners’ feeding programs. Wires are going out by December 21, yet we are $2000 (USD) short of our goal. At this point Village Volunteers cannot make up the rest. Can you give anything to... make the holiday brighter for these children? Any amount will make a difference. As always, we wire 100% of your tax-deductible donation and will post pictures of the adorable children whose lives you touch. Late last night it was so exciting to see $50 come in from here and $25 come in from there and $100 from somebody else. As of midnight EST we had raised $350 to start!! Emails were still being automatically sent to another 4000 people overnight. What an exciting event!!

I heard from Shana that the first Kenyan school children to receive their laying hens were so excited that, before anybody could get the kids together for the camera, the children FLEW home with hens in hand to show their parents and orphan home directors. It was described as a full on "scattering!" Their excitement must have been so beautifully overwhelming. :)

This email was sent late last night to our 5000 newsletter subscribers. Mailing takes 15 hours to reach all recipients.

Before midnight (EST) we had already received 4 donations equaling $350 and three letters saying "the check is in the mail." This morning we woke to another 4 donations equalling $700!! We are almost there!

(Anything raised over and above $2k will go toward feeding progams in Africa.)

While you're probably thinking the most amazing thing you can do is volunteer right now, don't forget to see the gems of the region. Take the time to swim at the base of the Wli Waterfall (more beautiful than the northern excursion in my opinion), feed bananas at the ... See MoreMonkey Sanctuary (more interactive than the northern excursion) and drive to the highest human habitat so you can hike the rest of the way to the top of Gemi Mountain.
