Or, better yet, trap them and reintroduce them on the back side of Mt. Tamalpais, where they used to roam; only now they will be close enough to visit the Sierra Club HQ. Hopefully, all that granola won't give them gas.

Mike, energy efficiency regulations (as in current proposed emission bills) are wrong:
Energy efficiency is only one advantage that products can have.
Energy requiring products often have
appearance/construction/performance advantages,
as well as lower cost and, under some conditions, greater overall money savings.
See h...ttp://www.ceolas/net/#cc2x with examples of cars, buildings, dishwashers etc, as well as light bulbs

Even if felt necessary to target such products,
then energy efficiency taxation makes more sense,
keeping consumer choice,
while giving tax income for home insulation schemes, renewable projects etc
- and also lowering overall energy use and emissions more than
remaining product use raises them.
Sales tax on efficient products can simultaneously be lowered, making
them cheaper than today
Taxation is still wrong, but better for all concerned than bans.
