The free ranger programs that have been happening this summer are starting to wind down. There will now be 2 programs offered daily through October as staffing levels permit, then things will be on hold for a while until we get enough snow on the ground to start doing guided snowshoe hikes. It's been a great season, ...and a big thanks to all who participated in these summer programs as well as to the rangers who have shared their wealth of knowledge with us.

Please follow the link below for descriptions of our on-going free ranger programs.

The most incredible part of this event was when Eddie "Tupishna", the Wuksachi elder, blessed the lodge and the people around it. On his cue we faced east, south, north, and west as a group, and at each direction he would say a prayer to his grandfather asking for his blessing, or sing a song in his native language. Other than his voice and the ... Read Morebeat of the drum it was dead silent. As we turned to face our final direction he went through the crowd, stopping every now and then and blessing individuals with smoke from burning sage and the gentle brush of an eagle's feather. Although it first seemed like he was picking people at random, as he whispered words meant just for that person you could almost feel some unseen force guiding him. The experience was like nothing I had seen before and was truly magical.
