Robert Breining

Robert Breining I just created a Fan page for Kami .. Thank you for creating this much need Muppet. I was also curious where does one get a Kami Plush doll...???

Kami is an HIV-positive character who is affectionate, articulate, literate and great fun to be with. She is wise beyond her five years and has a wealth of information about HIV/AIDS. She is a little shy at times and tends to observe rather than join in immediately. However when approached by someone in a friendly mann...er, she opens up quickly, easily, and joins in with great enthusiasm. Kami loves life and nature and has a remarkable ability to see the beauty in objects and to find creative solutions to problematic situations. Kami lives with Ma Dimpho, who adopted her. Takalani Sesame, the South African Sesame Street co-production, made international news in September, 2002 when they introduced Kami, the world's first HIV-positive Muppet. Kami's name is derived from kamogelo, which means acceptance or welcome in Zulu, Sesotho, and Setswana. Kami has also made appearances at UNICEF events and at the Peabody Awards. For her US appearances, Kami is performed by Fran Brill.

From season one, first aired on January 9, 1970. Two Anything Muppets (performed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz) share a riddle, with music by Joe Raposo.

These are the two exact same Anything Muppets that were in the three part skit, "The Boy & the Girl & the Jellybeans".

I love Cookie Monster's cameo at the end, though he wasn't known as Cookie at the time, and his voice was different.

Bert leads the weekly meeting of the club for people who love the letter W, and the wonderous sound it makes. This was included on "The Muppet Alphabet Album" in 1971, one of my all time favorite Sesame Street vinyl LPs.

This was where I first heard the song, so Judy Garland's rendition came as a total shock.
