Johnny Mercer wrote lyrics for dozens of the greatest songs from the 1930s to 1960s, including ‘Moon River’ and ‘Autumn Leaves.’ Vocalist Anne Evenou and pianist Steve Sweeting will honor the 100th anniversary of Mercer's birth in exploring the lyrics of this songwriting genius.... Join us for the third lecture/concert of the 'twocities in tune' fall series in our centennial celebration of Johnny Mercer.

Jackson Lee’s newest solo exhibition celebrates “pottery of the people” in mingei (folk arts). These wares of beauty and utility reconnect us with the role that handcrafted art plays in the rhythms of our daily life.
Jackson Lee received an MFA ...from Jingdezhen Ceramics Institute and one from Alfred University, USA. His works have been exhibited internationally and he is also an award-winning documentary filmmaker. Lee is the co-founder of Sanbao, a ceramic art institute in Jingdezhen, Jianxi province.
This is Jackson’s second solo exhibition at twocities gallery.

Winner of the prestigious Hilton Head International Piano Competition, Sandra Shen has performed in renowned venues around the world, including the Kennedy Center, Chicago Cultural Center, Texas Conservatory, the Peace Center, the Frankfurt Cultural Center in Germany, the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, and the... Taiwan National Concert Hall.
Her program includes Rachmaninov's Piano Sonata No. 2, a piece of staggering complexity and difficulty. Sandra's masterful rendition inspired Andre-Michel Schub (Winner, Van Cliburn 1981) to declare "The nobility of her performance of the Rach Sonata was unforgettable . . . Sandra is a pianist of the first order."
Free and open to the public.

Traditionally viewed as status symbols and beauty accessories, jewelry has moved beyond mere decoration and now straddles the line between fine art and design. These contemporary artists employ non-traditional materials to create works that demonstrate technical excellence and imaginative aesthetics.
"Adorn: Wearable Ar...t & Non-Functional Jewelry" features the work of 10 emerging Chinese and international artists who use the language of contemporary jewelry art to express unique visions.
Opening reception: Saturday, September 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm
Exhibit runs until October 25.

‘Sonic Calligraphy’, a trio hailing from Switzerland, performs for ...a second time at twocities gallery with guest musicians Coco Zhao and Wu Na. The quintet will integrate a broad range of music that includes original compositions, poetry, American jazz standards, Chinese folk and classical songs, fueled by the inherent energy of improvisation.
This project is part of the exchange and cooperation programme “Swiss Chinese
Explorations“ of Pro Helvetia, the Swiss Arts Council.
