Shooting People loving the t-shirt designs starting to come in!

Shooting People
Shooters,
It's T-time.

We have partnered with Teepay
to create our official Shooting People T-shirts this
Christmas. To kick things off, we've added some basic designs of our
own - it's really easy - but we figured you could probably do better and get the 10% commission yourself.

Teepay
are part of Howies (we like) and that... means that the shirts are 10%
organic cotton and very nice. What's even better is nice Jon at Teepay
is offering all Shooters a 5UKP discount on each shirt (making them
20UKP for men and 15UKP for women)
To get the reduced rate - the discount code is SPPL09
Take a look here:
http://teepay.com/list?tab=all&tag=Shooting+People&view=list

They do supply to the US - but if someone can suggest a similar US service, we can set up on that too.

May the best T-shirts win.

A cogent and clear-sighted 'manifesto'. Especially, I think, the idea that 'every film needs one person devoted to the distribution and marketing of the film from inception'. Sounds simple, but it's excellent advice.

Shooting People A manifesto for documentary filmmakers. What do you think?

Source: blogit.yle.fi
2. Don’t film if you want to say something – just say it or write it.Film only if you want to show something, or you want people to see something. This concerns both the film as a whole and every single shot within the film.

An interesting manifesto - a lot of things that are generally interesting for thinking about processes of making documentary films.

But it's way too aestheticist and romantic. I'm not keen on the notion of "intuition", but "instinct" is good for point 5.

On point 2: What's wrong with wanting to say something and making a documentary about it? The opposition of image and word is a very old-fashioned one and a little naive these days - cinema is words as well as images. In the time of 24-hour rolling news the notion that the image is somehow free of ideology, which seems to run through this, is way off the mark. ... Read More

Also, the Lumieres Bros films weren't really docu though that's the myth (read Gunning on that.) There was film before the Lumieres too.

But on the whole you get to some good ideas here.
