This blog series at the CyArk was brought to my attention by it's author John Mink, who gives an archaeological/anthropological take on 2012, particularly with regard to the evidence (or lack thereof) we have from the Classic Period Maya.

As many of you may know, today marks the release of the movie 2012.
The movie itself has generally received low ratings (see rottentomatoes), but if you want, feel free to go see it - I'm sure it will entertain many.
However, I'd like to remind those of you with doubts that this is just a movie, and like most Hollywood ...movies, 2012 is a complete fictional story based on some rough interpretations of the Mayan calendar (some have told me that these interpretations were originally created for this movie - an intriguing theory).

I don't care whether you belive in god or not, or if you believe he has anything to do with the world ending, I just don't want this turned into religious combat.
