In 2003, Karen Gray, a Chicago-based mother and designer, combined her professional talent and experience in fashion, art and advertising to establish Silly Sandals, a novelty sandal company that combines fun and whimsy.
Silly Sandals puts a creative new spin on the traditional sandal. The company has two lines of sandals – the original Silly Sandals and an upscale line known as “Karen Gray”
Silly Sandals, the company’s original theme-based flip-flops, are decorated with a variety of materials, including shells, pearls, jewels, charms, elegant silk orchids or faux Napa Valley grapes. Silly Sandals help celebrate weddings, graduations, holidays, sports, breast cancer research and more. They have become popular among sports teams and fans, wine lovers, cheerleading squads, Bunko fans, breast cancer awareness advocates and a variety of other groups and corporations.
“Karen Gray” sandals are a touch more sophisticated and can be worn for any occasion, including formal events, such as proms and weddings. Unlike the fun novelty Silly Sandals, “Karen Gray” sandals have leather, fabric or suede straps instead of rubber and an arch support system built into the sandal. “Karen Gray” sandals are adorned with rhinestone charms, gold-tipped shells, turquoise studs, buckles and more.
KZG Concepts DBA Silly Sandals and Karen Gray distribute its sandals to more than 700 boutiques, specialty stores and department stores throughout the world. Silly Sandals’ products have helped sports teams, schools, corporations and other groups seek a fun and new way to show their spirit. Karen and her design team often work with customers to create customized sandals that combine creativity, fashion and fun. Inspired by Karen’s experienced eye for art and design, new versions of Silly Sandals and the more sophisticated line of “Karen Gray” sandals, are being designed regularly at the company’s headquarters.
