Simon Gudgeon, Sculpture I've installed a new sculpture at Sculpture by the Lakes. Called Duel, it represents a contest between two cock pheasants, a contest for territory and the right to procreate. This type of contest can be witnessed across many different species; the strongest will triumph and sire the next generation, so securing the fut...ure of the species. It is also a metaphor for the struggle to hold onto that which is ours or what we perceive to be ours; the need to defend ourselves against aggression; the need to procreate and the perpetual struggles in life where we constantly strive to achieve more.

Simon Gudgeon, Sculpture Following the unveiling of Simon Gudgeon’s sculpture Isis in Hyde Park on 7 September, the artist will lead a series of talks on 10, 11, 12 and 13 September at Halcyon Gallery on Bruton Street, Mayfair. This ‘Meet the Artist’ series is an opportunity to meet Simon and learn more about the project and the story behind his creation of Isis.

The three-metre tall bronze artwork, named Isis after the goddess of nature, was created by Simon Gudgeon. It is spearheading a drive to raise £1.8 million to build an ecofriendly wildlife education centre in the park.
