The Singapore Children’s Society Lecture, inaugurated in 2007 as part of our 55th anniversary celebration, is part of Society’s efforts to reach out to professionals working with children and families as well as members of the public. The Society is thus far honoured to have Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Communi...ty Development, Youth and Sports, as well as social work veteran, Mrs Ann Wee, speak at our previous lectures.

This year, it is our great pleasure to have the Attorney-General, Professor Walter Woon, as our speaker for the 3rd Lecture. Singapore has seen a rash of cases involving sexually precocious children lately. This is a serious cause for concern and Professor Woon has elected to make this the subject of his lecture.

Titled “Changing Social Mores: Protecting Children from Themselves?”, Professor Woon will be looking at issues arising from the increased sexual awareness of children and the problems brought by modern communications technology, especially the internet.

For enquiries, contact the Research and Outreach Centre at 6358 0911 (Mon to Fri, 8.30am – 5.30pm) or email 3rd_lecture@childrensociety.org.sg.

Registration is now open at http://www.childrensociety.org.sg/events/register_lecture.htm
