Paranormal fiction luminaries Anya Bast and Julie Kenner have both been incredibly generous with their time and praise for and Falling, Fly. I’m so very grateful.

These are all shots of what Yeats described as "an island almost all castle" in Lough Key (pronounced Lock Key!) near Boyle. I rented a little rowboat, paddled out and knocked around the island, completely alone, for the better part of two hours taking notes. It's an amazing structure -- parts of ...

I’m sitting by a peat fire (and I know it’s peat in the grate, because there’s a big basket of the stuff on the hearth) in an honest-to-god thatched cottage eating brown bread and oysters at Moran’s Oyster Cottage in Galway. It’s the kind of food that makes you close your eyes to eat it. The only th...

It makes sense on more than just emotional level that I write my first full blog essay from Ireland, but let me get the sappy stuff out of the way first. I come from here. But I come from here in the same way a book comes from your subconscious – in a way you can’t articulate or map, because I’m ado...

Skyler White Last night was a little too much of an adventure. Got badly lost walking from the train station to the hotel. Badly lost, and it was late, and dark, and I was dragging all my luggage. First time in a while I was hoping for the police. Quoth my mother (blissfully unaware of the above): “I am amazed at all she you’re including in the trip–quite gutsy, I would say.”

Skyler White Walked both ways form Avon to the tomb of Maud’s child, six miles each way. Legs hurt. The tomb itself was small, blank and almost wrecked – you could barely read the name. Tragic, given that Maud had paid for its upkeep in perpetuity. There’s a much cooler tomb belonging to le Familie Seconde nextdoor; may tape the two together a bit.

Skyler White Safe in Avon, France. Lost another power converter, this time in London. More importantly, I left my netbook's power cord at my English lodgings. They'll mail to my Dublin hotel, where I hope to pick it up upon my return to Ireland. However, I'll need to ration battery power til then, so updates may be scarce. Tomorrow, Samois!

Skyler White Yeats family home, 3 Blenheim Rd., Bedford Park, London. Now I know we've stood in the same spot. Although, he hated living here, and so wouldn't have just stood at the front gate gaping and feeling a little weepy.

Skyler White The first in a series of photo updates from my ongoing trip to Ireland, the UK and France in search of sites and artifacts from the lives of Irish poet laureate W.B. Yeats and his lover, Irish revolutionary and Golden Dawn occultist Maud Gonne, to be used as research for my upcoming book, ‘Deus Inversus‘.
