Though the City of Slidell’s Christmas Under the Stars festivities have ended, the Griffith Park holiday lights and Parade of Trees will continue to be lit nightly until 10 p.m. through Jan 1. The park is located in Olde Towne Slidell, adjacent to City Hall and the Slidell Municipal Auditorium.
By popular demand, the Ch...ristmas train and village display on the first floor of Hall will also offer extended viewing hours. The display, which is housed in the community meeting room on the first floor of City Hall, will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21 and Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 28 and 29. Admission is free.

City of Slidell Continuing its aggressive, proactive stance against property owners in violation of the Code of Ordinances, the city recently conducted its third property maintenance sweep, this time in the Palm Lake area. Going door-to-door, officials issued 30 notices of violations including high grass, inoperable and illegally park...ed vehicles. According to Mayor Ben Morris, “It’s about quality of life. We want a clean city.”
City of Slidell If you live along I-12 between U.S. 11 and La. 1091, finally some good news. In an effort to reduce noise coming from traffic on the interstate, the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) will be replacing the existing 10-foot tall wooden barrier along the 1-mile stretch with a 14-foot tall concrete barrie...r. Construction should begin on this estimated $2.5 million project by early fall 2010.
City of Slidell Artist Carol Hallock recently presented her newly-completed mural, a swamp scene with “Geraldine the egret” perched upon a stump in the swamp, to City of Slidell Mayor Ben Morris. The artwork, which is located at Fremaux and Front Street, can be enjoyed by people traveling along Front Street, and can also be viewed by ...passengers traveling on the Amtrak passenger train, which passes through Slidell twice daily.

Between 3 p.m. today until tomorrow night, Slidell can expect to get a minimum of 2-3 more inches; however, the National Weather Service says that the weather system that is affecting the region is still developing. There is a possib...ility that the city could receive 4-5 additional inches of rain in next 24 hours.
City of Slidell This month, the St. Tammany Parish Commission on Cultural Affairs introduces “artSPARK”, a new program on Access St. Tammany Channel 10. This program is all about the process of making art of all disciplines. The show airs throughout the month of December on Mondays from 7PM to 8PM and Wednesdays from 6PM to 7PM. It will begin airing on Monday, December 14.
