A Message from the Alumni Director:
Dear SRU Alumni,
I know in the past you’ve been contacted before to give back to your alma mater. However, I am contacting you this time to ask your participation in an exciting event involving current Slippery Rock University students. I am asking for your help in mentoring and provi...ding career advice to students. We are developing, along with assistance of the SRU Career Services Office, a special “Backpacks to Briefcases” Networking event for our students, on Friday, November 20, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. The event will be held Stonepepper's Grille, SR 228, 300 Adams Shoppes, Mars, PA 16046. Phone: 724-591-5132, Website: http://www.stonepeppers.com.
Each student has participated in several leadership development training sessions and will be participating in special Successful Career Networking Workshop prior to the program on November 20. The Green and White Society, the SRU Alumni Association and the College of Business, Information and Social Sciences are co-sponsoring this program to allow our students the opportunity to explore career options, get to know our successful alumni and learn about life after college. We will provide hot appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages. A cash bar is available for those wishing to have a cocktail. Could you please review your schedule and let me know if you would be available to participate in this program? We will be putting together a resource booklet with each of your names, majors and career information to disseminate to students and alumni. Please feel free to bring extra business cards.
Our goal in developing this program is to create more opportunities and connections with alumni for our students and provide them with valuable “out-of-classroom” experience. Many larger institutions do these types of programs with great success. We are limiting the number of students and alumni to approximately 60 and if successful, we would like to make this an annual event. Could you please let me know if you can participate in this program by Monday, November 9? You can either e-mail me at michael.saraka@sru.edu or call me at 724-738-2018.

Following World War II, the name of the holiday was changed (enacted June 1, 1954) to Veterans Day to honor those who died in all American wars. The day has since evolved to primarily be a time of honoring living veterans who have served in the military during wartime or peacetime, partially due to competition with Mem...orial Day, which primarily honors the dead.
The SRU Alumni Association honors all veterans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces with a special ceremony held in front of the Alumni House at the SRU Alumni Veterans Memorial. All SRU employees, students, alumni and community members are invited to attend the ceremony. Also included will be the R.O.T.C. Honor Guard, SRU Singers and student and alumni veterans. Read More
