No Contracts Needed is seeing new bands as they break into the fold, hearing new music as it takes its sound to another level, and experiencing musicians with an attitude for the future.
No Contracts Needed is a theatre-sized local concert that amplifies a new perception of seeing local bands. NCN promotes independent ...talent within Massachusetts to the high school students, college students as well as music scenes enthusiasts that are looking for the most visually enhanced way to see local, independent bands play their hearts out. Boston has a long history of developing great, lasting local talent and this is the way to see the next Aerosmith, The Cars, Aimee Mann or Letters to Cleo before they are signed and on MTV.

September 2008 will mark the second annual Boston Music Festival. Celebrated at 12 music venues, clubs, restaurants, and bars throughout Boston, including a final event at the Boston City Hall Plaza, this 7-day event will feature upwards of 130 bands performing an eclectic mix of music spanning rock, jazz, classical, L...atin, hip-hop, and more.
From Monday-Sunday, (Sept 8-14), a competition will take place pitting rock bands against string quartets, jazz trios against singer songwriters, popstars against hip-hopsters. Adopting a voting process that bears resemblance to American Idol, voting will be conducted via cell phone text messaging. Festival sponsor, OurStage, will also being accepting votes via the Internet. Five performing groups will be chosen as victors, and will perform at Boston City Hall Plaza during the festival finale. Winning groups will also receive prizes from corporate sponsors, School of Groove, Fender, and others.
The Boston Music Festival is organized by contemporary music school, School of Groove, in an effort to raise community awareness of new developments in music education. Emphasis is also placed on supporting local music talent in Boston, and providing exposure to emerging artists.
Festival performances and events will occur nightly, Monday through Saturday (Sept 8-13), with the final event occurring at Boston City Hall Plaza from 2-9pm on Sunday, September 14th.
