Society for the Anthropology of Consciousness Rene Descartes also believed that the pineal gland was the seat of the soul. It certainly is relevant to consciousness studies, at least because of its role in regulating melatonin, which maintains our cycle of waking/sleeping. I also recommend Strassman's book!
Society for the Anthropology of Consciousness I saw a great lecture last week about the effects of ketamine on nightmares. Turns out that ketamine increases negative dream happenings in dreams for adults. And people party with this stuff?
