SolVici Glass

SolVici Glass And here is the final result: a 10" round art glass bowl. I think the deep purple border gives it a very regal appearance... nice!

SolVici Glass

SolVici Glass I've returned from Chicago with a trunk full of new glass from my glass wholesaler, as well as a special writing tool/liquid gold to sign my future glassworks. I'm anxious to give it a trial run!

I hope I can get it to work, too - should be interesting since I'm not exactly sure how to use the thing!

SolVici Glass SolVici Glass' first indoor show at Artworks:Madison. This photo accurately depicts the crowd - or lack thereof - of customers in the booth throughout the day. Nobody there but me, my glass, and the daily newspaper crossword puzzle.

Gotta love the taller tables (using an elaborate PVC leg extension system) and new tablecloths to hide the aforementioned hack....

SolVici Glass Here is a pair of green pattern bar bowls. The larger one is 10" and the smaller is 8 1/2" in diameter. They look fantastic with a bit of back lighting shining through the transparent slices of glass!

It's an 8 1/2" bowl made up of a light blue/yellow/orange glass slab which has been sliced up, courtesy of my new tile saw. These slices are separated by strips of clear glass and the outer rim is bordered by light blue and iridescent glass.

Or, I think it looks like tropical fish in the ocean. Take your pick...

SolVici Glass

SolVici Glass The most recent creation to come out of the kiln - I really love this one!

SolVici Glass and here is the final product.... nice!

The final firing gave shape to the glass. In a process known as 'slumping', the flat glass is placed on top of a ceramic mold and fired to approximately 1240 degrees. At this temperature the glass becomes soft and falls into (or over) the mold, following its shape. The bowl i...s now ready for use (it is food safe) or display.
