This summer, MoAD invites you to participate in our exciting new interactive exhibition – “Engage Your Heritage,” July 3 – September 26.
“Engage Your Heritage” includes family-friendly activities. Every Thursday and Saturday afternoon, join us from 2-3:30 for family-friendly art projects. Wednesday and Friday afternoon...s all our younger visitors are invited to a storytelling event from 2-2:45, featuring a diverse array of storybooks from the Heritage Center Library (which also features fascinating books for all ages).
In addition to these events, the Heritage Center will feature permanent interactive activities. Add your family’s personal diaspora to the “Mapping Our Journeys” installation. Write about your family’s history and add it to our dandelion mural. Learn more about the permanent exhibitions on one of our computer portals.
At the heart of this exciting new exhibition is our African Film Series, featuring acclaimed works of cinema from over fifteen African countries. Every two weeks we will be featuring a series of three related films. Films “on demand” are available at our cozy two-person viewing stations, as well as a feature film showing in the main gallery, with showtimes at 11:30a.m., 1:45pm, and 4:00pm. A few of our film series include: Education and Empowerment ( August 12 through 22), Women, Gender, and Identity (August 26 through September 5), and High-Tech Africa(September 9 through 19), among others. The film series encourages you to take advantage of the power of film to transform your perspective. (For specific information about films, please visit our website www.moadsf.org for more information.
We look forward to seeing you soon at “Engage Your Heritage”.
Let us honor and celebrate our distinctive paths together!
