The Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC), formerly known as the Indochina Refugee Action Center, was formed in 1979 to facilitate the resettlement of refugees from the Southeast Asian countries of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam and foster the development of nonprofit organizations led by and for these Southeast Asian communities. Our mission is to advance the interests of Cambodian, Laotian and Vietnamese Americans through leadership development, capacity building, and community empowerment. With this mission, SEARAC has earned national and recognition for its promotion of public policies on behalf of Southeast Asian Americans; its unique qualifications to strengthen the capacity of Southeast Asian American and other refugee-led community-based organizations; its information-gathering and in-depth research; its active participation in just and humane solutions to Southeast Asian refugee situations; and its emphasis on cultivating leaders and fostering civic engagement among Southeast Asian Americans.
