Abelardo Morell: The Universe Next Door
September 17 – November 8, 2009
American photographer Abelardo Morell (b. Cuba, 1948) presents startling glimpses of an alternate universe. This exhibition celebrates the magic that Morell creates with ordinary objects, everyday scenes, and grand landscapes - books where characters... and words leap off the page, images recast by framing and perspective, objects transformed by light and shadow, and personal and external spaces inverted through camera obscura refractions.

Toribio Buddy Gomez Jr During the Mid 70's (74-76) I used to worked for the Saturday Morning Art Classes that were free to small children of the different schools in San Antonio. This where I learn about the different types of arts and crafts myself while helping out. From tied-died T-shirts to photography. The biggest thrill for the kids w...as to have their art work on display at Joske's third floor. Boy how time flies I was in high school during that time period ... I'm now 50 years young.

Jeannette MacDougall proud to claim SSAC as the best art makin; art learnin, center in the southwest!

Southwest School of Art & Craft KENS5's Deborah Knapp just posted an energetic blog entry reminding parents that registration for Saturday Morning Discovery is now open for the coming school year. Still free, and so worthwhile! (And among other things worth considering, this Friday is the last day for the Gallery Shop's summer meltdown sale...)
