Spook Central 24 hours ago a used copy of Don Shay's "Making Ghostbusters" book was selling on Etsy.com for the low, low, price of $20 plus $5 for shipping! On Amazon Marketplace, the book's listed from $56 up to $250 - so that's one HELL of a deal. I contemplated snatching it up myself, but I already have a copy, and I didn't want to be bothered registering for an Etsy account.

This was going to be the first "Spook Central Facebook Exclusive Alert". I was going to mention it here to give one of you the opportunity to grab it, but someone found it before I had the chance to make the post. Still, it was such a damn good deal that I felt it was worth mentioning for posterity.

Well, the Ghostbusters busiest time of year is upon us again. It's been rather busy for me, too, but not for a few others who've chosen to honor the holiday in their own Ghostbusters-themed way...

Wrestling personality and pop culture icon Captain Lou Albano passed away this past Wednesday at age 76. If you grew up in the 1980s, you probably remember him from his trademark Hawaiian shirts, wiry goatee and rubber bands hung like piercings from his cheek...

R.I.P. Capt. Lou. Wise Guys was a great movie that no one knows about.

Here's something interesting that I just found out earlier this year.

Wrestler/actor Captain Lou Albano is featured in "The Honeymooners" comic book, issue #7 (from Triad Publications in April 1988): http://www.milehighcomics.com/cgi-bin/backissue.cgi?action=bibliography&issue=40743600230%207

In the middle of the book is an interview with Lou, in which he discusses his roles in Wise Guys and Body Slam. He adds, "I've also done Scrooge now, which will be out next year, a cameo as Frankie the hot dog man with Bill Murray."... Read More

He meant Scrooged, of course, but this is the first time I've ever read of him being in the film. Obviously he's not in the final film (unless I forgot about a hot dog man being in the film), so if Lou was telling the truth, he must be in a deleted scene. Too bad the Scrooged DVD doesn't have any deleted scenes on it.

Before I get to the unboxing, two quick site update notifications. (1) I have moved all of the new IDW comic info and links to the Comic Books page. This includes links to all three covers for the Christmas one-shot. Let's hope IDW doesn't change them by the time it comes out...

This is going to be one of those rare times when I use this blog for personal use. This post will have nothing to do with Ghostbusters, so feel free to ignore it if that's all you came here for. However, if you live on Long Island in the state of New York, you might want to read this...

It was about a year ago that Proton Charging gave us our first look at Sony's planned 2008 repackaging of both Ghostbusters movies on DVD. Then it disappeared off the radar. Well, now it's back on the radar and set to be released in two weeks...

Why isn't there any behind the scenes type of stuff for GB2? Yes it's no where near as good as the original, but I would love to know some of the special effects stuff, like the slime, how they did the Statue of Liberty scenes and how they re-did Ecto-1 with all the new equipment. Is there a DVD that has all this?
