
MPA at UIS (Masters in Public Administration) Driss El-Akrich, DPA student, was honored as one of three organizers of an ACTION! Day in Springfield. Driss said, "Hopefully it will motivate the Muslim community in Springfield to play a bigger role in the future." One aim of the event was to show Mulsims stepping out of the stereotypes sometimes attributed to them.

The Graduate Certificate in Emergency Preparedness and Homeland Security is open to online and on ground students. If electives are carefully chosen then a student can get the certificate and the MPA in 44 hours of coursework.

I thought you might enjoy this. I am sitting at an airport window and the plane at the gate was moved about two feet from the gate by the push machine and then sat there for a while. A moment later one of the desk people came and sat nearby. I smiled and said, "So if the plane is moved from the gate then it is an on ...time departure?" She smiled and said that three wheel turns were the defintion of leaving the gate. So even if the plane can't go anywhere they will still move it three wheel turns so that the supervisors don't get angry about late departures. Moral: You get what you evaluate for.Read More
