| Technology Day 2010 The theme for our annual Technology Day is What Are You Learning Now? Teaching with Social Technologies. This year's event will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010. Submit a Proposal We urge all interested parties to submit any proposals for presentations, roundtable discussions, or poster sessions for presentation at the event. If you have other ideas besides the aforementioned items, please feel free to submit them. • Topics may include teaching and learning techniques, resources, services, and other creative uses of technology. • Topics should be geared toward UIS faculty, staff and students primarily, however, District 186 schools and other institutions of higher education will also participate in Technology Day. • Details for submitting final proposals and other details, as well as the form, can be viewed at: https://illinois.edu/fb/sec/8659289 If you are interested but not certain, please draft and submit a proposal. Members of the Technology Day committee will then contact you to discuss your ideas further. The deadline to submit proposals is Thursday, December 24, 2009. |
Keynote Speaker Kyle Bowen is the keynote speaker for Technology Day 2010. Kyle is the director of informatics at Purdue University, where he is responsible for providing Web design and application development support for the university community. Kyle recently led development of Hotseat, a new social networking-powered tool that enables students to collaborate via Twitter or Facebook both inside and outside of the classroom. Author of the Exploring Dreamweaver series of books, Kyle has also contributed to, or served as technical director for, more than 20 books within the areas of Web design, development and usability. His work has been featured by the New York Times, USA Today, CNET, and The Chronicle of Higher Education. Kyle's broad range of experience includes developing Web strategies, applications, and instructional media within industry, government and higher education. Who Should Participate All technology users are encouraged to participate in Technology Day. Many members of our academic community are using technology innovatively, and Technology Day offers a valuable opportunity to share that knowledge base and expertise with the wider academic communities of UIS, District 186, and other partners in higher education. |
