Adult and Community Education - Fairfax County Public Schools Hundreds gathered to commemorate the opening of the Plum Center for Lifelong Learning. This newly renovated facility was named after Kenneth R. Plum who served as ACE director for close to three decades. Under his watch, Plum "developed Fairfax County’s adult education program from a small initiative to a world-class p...rogram." Plum shared credit with all ACE teachers, program specialists, and support staff; "together, we helped thousands of adults learn to read and write, speak English as a second language, and gain career skills."

Adult and Community Education - Fairfax County Public Schools Back by popular demand: The second annual Writers Read. Don't miss the chance to hear 10 student writers reveal how everyday things — a shopping trip, a bracelet, a failed crop — shaped how they came to view life, love, and loss. This evening of "Revelations" builds on last year's filled-to-overflowing crowd-pleaser event, "Journeys."
Adult and Community Education - Fairfax County Public Schools Enjoy tasty hors d'hoeuvres, fine paintings, and a chance to meet the artists in this October-December exhibit of Penny McGrath and her students' work. Subjects range from still lifes and landscapes to portraiture and figure studies with many tempting works available for purchase.

Registration for Fall 2009 classes offered by the office of Adult and Community Education (ACE) is in full swing. The course catalog, ACE Classes, is in the mail to residents and will soon be available at ACE registration centers and Fairfax County public libraries.

Adult and Community Education - Fairfax County Public Schools
Information for Graduates:
• Plan to arrive before 7 pm.
• Wear dress or business attire
• Graduates report to the registration table to pick up name tag and card before being seated.
• Balloons are not allowed in the Government Center. Please advise family and friends of this rule.
• Light refreshments will be served afte...r the ceremony in the lower level atrium.
• In order to particpate, all fees should be paid.
• Final certificates and transcripts are mailed to your home when all requirements are completed. Many graduates have already received them.
• A folder will be presented to you at the ceremony. Please complete the enclosed survey form and mail back to ACE.
