Carnegie Art Center and Squeaky Wheel team up to present a selection of works by local media artists funded through the Carnegie Art Center via NYSCA's Electronic Media and Film program. Grants were provided to media artists in Niagara and Erie Counties to promote the production of nontraditional media projects relatin...g to Western New York’s regional, social, historical, and cultural interests. As part of this Media Arts Regrant Exhibition and Screening series, Squeaky Wheel will present a a night of documentary and experimental videos by Stefani Bardin, Holly Johnson and Meg Knowles, Howard Kim, Jamie O’Neil, Julie Perini, G. Alan Rhodes and Seth Wochensky.

See That the World is Moving
by Holly Johnson and Meg Knowles
A documentary examining the role of nineteenth century activist and feminist, Elizabeth Cady Stanton in the 1848 Seneca Falls Woman’s Rights Convention.

The Carousel Maker
by Howard Kim
A short narrative video using stop-motion animation to tell the story of an aging carousel carver.

The Medium is the Mix
by Jamie O’Neil
A video essay entangling O'Neil's own character, Kurt Weibers into a virtual dialogue with Marshall McLuhan.

The Evolutionary Girls Club (EVO) is an international artist-activist collective coming to Squeaky Wheel to present a multi-media extravaganza of videos, prints and installations. The aim of this socially conscious and outspoken group is to create an inclusive global artist community and "to work together to inform and... expand each other and their surroundings." The group has also done art exhibitions and workshops in Ukraine, Germany, Malaysia, Sweden, Poland, Hungary, Japan, and Finland.Read More
