Question: Often we willfully break the commandments of the scriptures How can this be God's Will? Sri Gurudev: It is all God's Will. It is God's Will that you asked me this question, and it is God's Will that is going to answer you. Ultimately, that is the truth...

Very difficult to understand this concept...was it Gods will that that guy shot all of those people in Texas? According to this teaching, yes it was, and now we are to learn from it. It is a difficult teaching to understand.

I think the most important thing is to be happy and loving and giving, and forgiving, as we ourselves wish to be forgiven, and grateful for all we have been received from our loving Father.
As I see it, our happiness, and the Love we feel for others is greater than what we may have done in the past.

When Lord Jesus said, "If somebody slaps you on one cheek, show the other cheek also," what did that mean? By showing the other cheek you are really giving the person a better lesson. You make him feel ashamed of what he has done. If you return another slap, you are only beating his body...

Question: In order to overcome my fear of being beaten up, I am learning how to fight. Is this the proper course? Sri Gurudev: First of all, let me remind you that however well you might learn to fight, there will always be a better fighter than you...

Realize that nothing is yours. You didn't come with anything and you are not going to go with anything. Things were given to you along the way. At a certain period things and people came to you. At a certain period, they might go again. It's all just a carnival...

Question: Can a little lie told to a person be loving and actually prevent hurt? Sri Gurudev: Well, I have a philosophy about that. What is a lie? Is a lie something terrible? Is it always bad to lie? If so, why should there even be such a thing as a lie at all in this universe...

I think a lie that is told to hide a wrong that we have done but do not wish to be punished for, is wrong. However a lie to save another´s life is not a lie, nor is it wrong if it is done to protect someone from evil that in some way threatens him or her, or the very same same person, him or herself.
I certainly would not have revealed the presence of the girl!
For me the terrible man´s intention was evil, so he did not deserve to know the truth. Neither had he the right to ask.

Speak less and only speak about what is to be spoken of. Control of the tongue is very important. The tongue does two things: tasting and talking. Have limitations in both. Speak less, speak softly and speak the truth. Occasionally stay away from talking completely and experience silence...
