Stephanie Kuehnert Today I'm part of a linked blogging effort by 7 authors to talk about music for the muse. Read about what music inspired my 1st two books as well as the one I'm currently writing. There are links to the other author blogs as well.

Stephanie Kuehnert OPRF alum and YA author, Stephanie Kuehnert joins us the day after Thanksgiving to read from and sign her latest novel, Ballads of Suburbia. A fast-paced brother-sister tale that takes place in downtown Oak Park and addresses the teen heroin epidemic of the early 1990s. An ambitious and brave tale told from a strong voice and authentic point of view.

HI Mitchell, glad you are enjoying Ballads. My book is fictional though I did grow up in the real Oak Park, IL and I definitely had some of the same struggles as Kara does, but the story and the people in it are fictional.

Stephanie Kuehnert Five Chicago YA authors—Jessica Hopper (A Girl’s Guide to Rocking), James Kennedy (Order of the Odd Fish), Daniel Kraus (The Monster Variations), Stephanie Kuehnert (Ballads of Suburbia and I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone), and Adam Selzer (Andrew North Blows Up The World, I Put a Spell On You, and How to Get Suspended and... Influence People)— have teamed up to create a special literary event for teens (and other YA lit lovers): The Sisters Rock ‘n’ Roll and the Brothers Delacorte.

There will be a lively reading, panel, and Q&A session. Possibly wrestling and outrageous challenges. Definitely free pizza, a free raffle of goodies related to our books, and the opportunity to ask any writing-related questions you may have. And we'll sign our books if you want.

Did I mention it's free and there is FREE PIZZA???

Well there is, so come on out, bring your friends and spread the word!

You can download the ebook of Ballads of Suburbia (you do have to pay of course) at Simon & Schuster: http://bit.ly/rxduN Unfortunately there is not an ebook of I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone (i thought threre was, I guess not, hmmm), so you'd have to order it from Amazon I guess. Sorry, I'd love more foreign rights sold too so I could reach more readers!
