Stephen White "The unexpected is the norm in this breathless, unconventional, chiller of a story that will stay with you long after the book is closed."

This was the FIRST book I didn't buy within a week of when it was released. Just couldn't afford it, and it was WEEKS before it was available at the Library. Well worth it, though. Definitely different from his other books, but very intense and interesting.

REPOST: I have this visual in my mind of seeing one scene in "The Seige" on a Nighttime Crime Drama recently. I can picture the detectives hiding behind a car, negotiating with the kid who told them the kidnapper wanted the Cell towers turned on. He has a bomb strapped to him and he blows up. His thumb landed on the ca...r next to the detectives. Did anyone else see it? What show was it? or am I losing my mind?Read More

Stephen, Any chance you read out loud this scene in your book when you talked in Boulder at Chautauqua the first week the book was released? Maybe I am remembering it from hearing it and not seeing it somewhere.

Jan Dobrin

Jan Dobrin Just before Socorro, NM's first offramp heading North on I25 back to Santa Fe from El Paso, I finished The Siege audiobook! It was riveting! I get the feeling there MAY be a sequel one day? Just wondered from a couple of comments made in this book, for instance the comment by one of the hostage takers saying something like "end of siege, PART ONE".... ????

Glen Shaw

Glen Shaw I read Kill Me shortly after reading a good review in a local paper. A thought-provoking novel that I have recommended to many people. Different than any other book I have read. I read Dry Ice and Dead Time and just finished The Siege. I think I will go back in time and read some early works now.

Jan Dobrin

Jan Dobrin I have been reading Stephen White novels for years and have read all of them and love all of them. Actually, I listen to them via audiobooks while I paint or when in the car. With all the recent horrendous missing children/child killings taking place in FL, the most recent being that little angel, Somer Thompson, I was wondering if maybe he might think about a book on this subject in the future?

Suzanne Guidry

Suzanne Guidry I think I've read them all, and I still think Higher Authority was the best of the best!!! It just FLOORED me!! I couldn't put it down!!!

Last Fall a friend shared a copy of "Kill Me." before reading it I googled Stephen White and determined that this was one in a series of Alan Gregory books. Since I am always in search of a new author and love this genre, I was thrilled to begin my adventure.

Starting with Privileged Information, I have now read all 17 ...in sequence. What a wonderful experience. You have developed all of your characters so well and so comprehensively. I have never read an author this way before, but would highly recommend it to anyone.

I have missed the further development of Alan and Lauren's story in the past few books and hope that we see more of them in the near future. I know their relationship is at a crossroads and darn it, I want to know what happens.

Please keep writing with the fullness and richness that are your trademark.

Stephen White Stephen's character, Lauren, has MS and he often writes about the disease's effect on her life, and on Alan's. This is a wonderful video explaining what it is really like to live with MS.

I have read all his books, and I too, wondered if he didn't have some sort of personal experience with MS. My ex-husband has it, though, lucky for him, it is a very slow moving form of that disease.

I read Higher Authority just after my own MS diagnosis - I learned a lot about MS from the book and have aways been especially interested in Stephen White's novels because of this connection (and of course they are always great reads!)

I've been reading all of the Dr. Alan Gregory series and I wanted to send you a personal note to thank you for the inspiration! I have to admit that I haven't been reading much at all over the last few years, but during some of the rougher times I've been through earlier this year, I picked up a book, and thankfully it... happened to be one of yours. I was away from the world for six long months and I read every Stephen White book I could get my hands on, but I was truly hooked from the first page.

I know it seems silly, but you actually inspired me to get back into writing, but you also brought out something in me that I didn't even realize I had... I developed an interest in psychology, and I owe that to you. I'm planning to go back to school, and hopefully I can continue writing in the future! Thanks for all the great stories!
