Tomoraa Hello future nurses, I have a question. If Dr. orders morphine gr 1/6 and there is an ampule that has morphine gr 1/4 how many ml will you give?

I've just finished my first semester, so I'm hesitant in posting. :P Correct my errors...I can take it. LOL!

Anyway, you change the gr to mg. There are 60 mg to a gr, so you divide 60 by 6 for a 10 mg order. Then do the same for the supply by dividing 60 by 4 to get the 15mg. If the supply is equal to one ML,then you do your math resulting in 0.666666- and your answer is 0.7 mL.

Is that correct? ... See More

I'm not a future nurse...been one for over 30 years ;) and yes, Marilyn, you are correct if the ampule contains one mL! Good work! Who says girls aren't good at math?!!!

Thanks for the confirmation, Kathryn. I'm not typically a math person, but I am getting confident with nursing math. Glad to know that I was thinking in the right direction.

Robin Skinner

Robin Skinner took my first practice test with silverlight enabled.. was not my favorite way to do it. Before I was able to go through all the answers of a missed question and learn why one answer was right and all others were wrong. Seems to work okay though. Maybe after a few more tests I will get used to it.

Hi Robin - After you submit an answer, you should be given immediate results with a button to the left that says "view rationales." The rationales should give you more information about why a possible answer was right or wrong. If you don't see that button, or have any other issues, please let us know!

ATI The new ATI website launched today. To ensure that your computer is capable of accessing the new site at atitesting.com, you must have Silverlight loaded on your computer. To check if you already have it installed, please follow this link: http://bubblemark.com/silverlight2.html. If the green balls dance on your screen..., you have silverlight loaded. If not, you will need to download this application from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/get-started/install/default.aspx. We are excited for you to see and take advantage of the enhancements and convenient new features of the site!

Thank you all for your comments. We anticipated that when we launched an initiative of this magnitude (which was done to address the feedback of our students and faculty who wanted more interactive, intuitive and convenient features) that there would be some bugs to work out. That... See More’s why we launched the new site during break so that we’d have time to fix these issues before classes started up again (keep those fingers crossed!). Thank you for working with us and providing feedback. We’re working hard to get things running more smoothly, knowing it will take a little time to get all the bugs worked out. As for Silverlight, ATI chose to move to the Silverlight platform so we could introduce more powerful, interactive teaching aids to help students learn material better and more efficiently. Also, Silverlight will allow us to introduce more intuitive teaching aids for faculty – a “smart” resource for teachers to use in the classroom. Silverlight is similar to using a Flash plug-in; once you download it, you’ll be able to take advantage of all the site’s new features. We believe once we get through the initial hiccups, you’ll have a much improved experience. THANK YOU for hanging in there with us as we work to get the site running at full speed!

Having all kinds of issues getting on to your web site, actually have to have my computer friend come over and I have a newer computer, software is not loading up correctly and I have add to new programs, which is upsetting. Hope it all works once my friend is done and that all this new software does not crash my computer due to compatibility issues with Vista.

Paul Schroeder

Paul Schroeder OS X 10.5.8 and Safari 4.0.4 is not good enough because the only thing I can't run is Microsoft's proprietary Silverlight. I really thought you would find a way for people with a PPC Mac to still use your site. I am disappointed to say the least.

Building websites with proprietary technology is not what the internet is about.

Hi, Paul:

Obviously, it is our intention that everyone be able to use the site. We are disappointed that it is causing headaches for some folks, but we are working hard on our end to fix it. Until IT gives us that solution, we are recommending that you download the Firefox Web browser for Mac OS X 10.4 or later: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/internet_utilities/mozillafirefox.html
This browser has not been experiencing the issues posed by Safari. It’s a stop-gap measure at this point, but it will help until we get a more permanent solution.

Thanks for your patience as we work through this on our end.

The issue is not the browser or the OS. The issue is ATI chose to not support those of us still using non-Intel Macs. Again building websites with proprietary technology is not what the internet is about.
