Kudos to the Tories for finally slashing $44.8 Million in arts spending; I’ve been waiting years for this. This will finally get rid of all the scam artists who most of our tax paying dollars goes to. From people who have days jobs but do a couple of drawing so they can get subsidized rent in an arts community encouraged by their friend who applied for the grant, to artist-run centres that have no artists on the board and keep renewing memberships that don’t exist… some of the few things I have witnessed over the years. Without this government funding, there will be no more administrative paper pushers judging art on strange concepts and pushing it to the Canadian public; therefore only art with merit will survive and perhaps the average citizen will be able to understand and appreciate art once more. Now the real artists can breathe, safe to survive by the old method- creating the art and selling to the patron, often accompanied by an agent and nothing more.
