When I was working with social services, I had to deal with bratty teenagers who did much more obnoxious stuff than "kick shoes" at me. But I was always told to be professional and not overreact, no matter how angry I was. Apparently, being a cop gives you a carte blanche to beat people up just because you can't control your temper.
