Stop That Nun
Well we told you it's on the 6th, but now you can make it official.
Facebook official.
Whoa.
Stop That Nun's most recent film, Microcosm is ready to be unleashed for free from our web-site starting this Friday, November 6th, a year after it was released on DVD. That's right, the whole short from beginning to end. See it... again, for the first time or just download it and use some of our bandwidth.
So where and how can you see it. At the stroke of midnight when the 6th officially begins, it will be up on http://www.stopthatnun.com, right on the front page. We'll also have it on our podcast, so if you want your computer to download it while you sleep (who knows what else it's doing while you are unaware), you can subscribe to the Stop That Nun podcast right here: http://tinyurl.com/cusw2a
It'll be up there forever, so don't worry if you can't hit it right away on the 6th. Facebook just wants an end time. Like 2012 or something.
Central Wisconsin in film form, Microcosm follows four soon to be college students their last night in a sleepy small town where suburbs don't surround an urban area, parents are almost too supportive and making your own fun is the only way to survive. With this dire situation facing him, Mikel (Luke Cieslewicz) makes a last ditch effort at the girl he's always had a crush on, Ireland (Arwen Fonzen). But with a philosopher for a best friend, a fish for a dad and a player for a rival, things probably won't go that smoothly.

Following the premiere of Microcosm we started looking to sell the film to finance putting it in film festivals. What followed was a lot of promotion over web 2.0 channels to let people know about the release of the DVD...

As the first public screening of Microcosm drew near we were really fortunate to garner some attention of the local media in Wausau, Wisconsin. While it may seem like some that a guy that worked at a news station could easily get coverage for his film, that is not the case...

Following production we did retreat from the public eye just a bit. Post-production, while just as important as pre and production, is not nearly as exciting or interesting to look at from a glance...

While our pre-production was ridiculously open, our production was even more so. To start with, we used Facebook events to invite people to every shoot day that we needed extras for. Not only could they be an extra, but they could also just watch us shoot...

In continuing a look at all the web 2.0 stuff we did for Microcosm that you just won’t see on any other film that I’m aware of, the script was public very early. W...

In the coming days before Microcosm becomes streaming for free here at Stop That Nun, we’ll be posting retrospectives. As a huge web 2.0 guy, I really wanted us to be transparent and open to the public since it’s so easy these days. B...
