Fairy Stone State Park
The largest of Virginia's 6 original state parks, it is home to its namesake "fairy stones." These rare mineral crosses, the Park's scenery, rich history and ample recreational opportunities make it and its 4,537 acres a local and regional favorite.

HA! Fairy Stone on Facebook!
My parents took me and my sisters when we were kids every summer for years. My cousins families would book cabins the same week and we used to run the place. About ten cabins in all. Back when they had horses and the campground was in the field near the cabins. It used to be fun to walk around the campers at night and ... Read Moreget to mingle with them. Had my first boyfriend up there! I'll never forget - he worked with the horses. His name was Murry Stone (or maybe he made that up?) We met after dark one night behind the horse stable for a crush! Ha ha. He even sent me one letter after I returned home to Tidewater. Ahhh, the memories....
So then I took my sisters and I took our kids for several summers when they were young, each getting our own cabins (there are 6 of us = 6 cabins) and now we all go with the next generation of families, my grandkids. And my parents still go too. So we are four generations into our memories of Fairy Stone. It's a constant in our lives. Summer means Fairy Stone.

Well tell him I said hi. I lifeguarded at the park and lived in the bunkhouse from '77 - '82 and he never arrested me once LOL. I will always be grateful for that. I have often thought about Willie and the rest of the rangers. Except for Forrest, I haven't seen any of them since then. Those were great years.

Does anyone have pics of the interior or exterior of the bunkhouse? They used such unique materials and floor plan.
