Jason Byblow I became a fan to help the people of Tibet... Now I see this "stop mining Tibet" as hurting the prosperity of the people of Tibet. I can no longer support you if you are not going to assist with the prosperity of the people of Tibet.

Rebecca Dawn Hey everyone, so I called continental minerals today to voice my concerns, the receptionist asked what it was regarding and when I said Tibet she said I could leave a message. I have been sent to voice mail and brushed off by so many politicians, consular offices and industry reps, regarding these and other issues in Tibet. Sometimes I feel sad and wonder why people don't care more. I was so happy to find this group and see that there are over 23 thousand of us, I feel better knowing that.

So what can we do? Are all gold, copper and silver mines negative in their impacts, should we avoid products made with these metals as much as possible, or are there socially responsible mines too?

Poor is in how you look at it. Tibetans are the richest in cultural heritage, spirituality, community/family relations, land space and ecological awareness. What can be said for technologically advanced, wealthy cultures in this era of global collapse?

It is true Tibetans ARE economically marginalized in their own country, 8 Chinese = 1 Tibetan. Nomadic Tibetan women are FORCE ABLY sterilized!- Tibet has some of the richest Uranium deposits on the planet - (uranium = nuclear weapons) . This is a real question people should be asking themselves...

Students for a Free Tibet Msg from Han Shan: I just spoke to a friendly but exasperated-sounding receptionist at Canadian mining co. Hunter Dickinson. I said I opposed HDI's planned mining ops in Tibet (at Shetongmon in central Tibet) in solidarity with Tibetans who can't give free, prior, and informed consent to exploitation of their natural resources. I asked her to pass on my concern to the CEO and she said she would. You should call too!
