Sunday Baroque Mark Twain once said, “When I was a boy of 14 my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21 I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.” This Father’s Day weekend you can hear a few fathers and sons who shared the gift of music, on Sunday Baroque.

Sunday Baroque Someone recently suggested that a good definition of early music might be "beautiful music well performed" -- that's what Sunday Baroque is about!

As a classical musician, I enjoy Suzanne’s programming. She juxtaposes older recordings of baroque music with the newer, historically informed groups. A program suggestion might be to play back-to-back recordings of say, Von Karajan’s recording of a movement from Bach’s St. Matthew Passion along with the Phillipe Herrewege recording. I think this would be of interest to the listening audience and would give us a chance to see the best in both recordings too.
Sunday Baroque has never been about musical criticism, but rather a collection of keen insights and facts that are well-researched and juxtaposed with beautiful music. It is the listener who gets to make up their own mind about the music. Suzanne’s show is helping to keep classical music on the map, continually growing its listener base and making thousands of us very happy.

Thanks Pat! Your comments are especially appreciated, coming from an accomplished professional musician like you. Suzanne

Gregory McDivitt I just wanted to write and say how much this program means to me. Unfortunately my local NPR station, (WLRH-Huntsville, AL) doesn't carry Sunday Baroque, but I listen to it every week online, sometimes several times. The music is amazingly beautiful and relaxing, and Suzanne's soothing voice, along with her research and professionalism, make it an unparalleled listening experience. I wish I had discovered Sunday Baroque years ago, and I hope it never goes off the air.

Thanks Gregory! Glad you found Sunday Baroque online. Thanks for being such a loyal listener, and for your very kind remarks. - Suzanne
