SUPERTUBOS, Peniche/Portugal - former ASP World Champion (2007) and current ASP World No. 1 Mick Fanning (AUS) has claimed the 2009 Rip Curl Pro Search, cementing his lead in the race for the 2009 ASP World Title. Supertubos made up for its name and delivered death-defying six-to-eight foot barrels.
Ericeira's Tiago Pir...es (PRT) maintains his 23rd world ranking position despite his 1st round loss. He's closely leading a 10 surfers group fighting for 4 spots for requalification (Top 27).

SEIGNOSSE, France - Mick Fanning (AUS) takes out the Quicksilver Pro France presented by Sony Ericsson defeating Bede Durbridge (AUS) and heats up the title race, closing the gap onto current ASP World Tour leader Joel Parkinson (AUS) with 2 back to back victories. A great day for European surfers Tiago Pires (PRT) and... Patrick Beven (FRA) finishing equal 3rd.
Tiago Pires (PRT) was in great form during the whole event, topping it up by kicking out 9 times World Champion Kelly Slater (USA) in the Quarter Finals. He only got beaten by later event winner Fanning and jumps up in the ASP World Tour ranking to 23rd.

Surf Ericeira This summer's hottest beach-party so far took place at Algodio Bar (North Beach). Organized by surfericeira.com, this Oakley Europe event was a tremendous success. Caipirinha-bar, barbeque, seafood, a lot of music, price giving and the 2010 summer collection fashion show was the mix offered to Oakley distributers and some VIP guests from over 15 nations.

THURSO, Scotland – Adam Melling (AUS) defeated Luke Munro (AUS) in solid five to six foot (1.5 to 2 meter) waves at the world class venue of Thurso East, clinching the ASP WQS 6* Prime O'Neill Cold Water Classic Scotland presented by Swatch today.
Joan Duru (FRA), leading the European contingent, finished 3rd and is now... ranked 4th on the ASP World Qualifying Series. Ericeira's Ruben Gonzalez and Lisbon's Justin Mujica placed equal 25th.
