

Susan G. Komen for the Cure-Central Valley In 1998, Carolyn Montez Jorgensen, a breast cancer survivor and avid runner was browsing through a running magaizine when she noticed the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®. A woman on a mission with other hardworking volunteers brought the Komen Race to the Central Valley in 1999. About 800 individuals participated. The Race grew to 6850 in 2007. Since it's inception in 1999, The Central Valley Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® has funded over $1 million in community-based grants for education, screening and treatment. Carolyn Jorgensen passed the torch to all of us in August 2007, two months before the Race.
