Queen Street Studio

Queen Street Studio Queen Street Studio is researching the need and viability within the arts sector for a ARTS-BUSINESS HUB at it’s FraserStudios facility.

The idea of the ARTS-BUSINESS HUB would be to offer ‘hot-desks’ where artists can do desk-based research, management and coordination of their arts-based work or project... in a creati...ve, shared environment.

Activities we believe this concept would be appropriate for are as follows:

Grant writing

Report writing

Research

Thesis

Workshop planning

Production management

Event management

Meetings with other artists

AGM’s
Board meetings

In order to help us better understand the expectations, behaviours and conditions artists need to work under when considering a ARTS-BUSINESS HUB – we want to hear from you.

Follow this link to an online survey that will take around 5 minutes to complete: http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/?p=WEB229WCUDT3BG

Your answers are confidential but will determine whether this concept is needed, wanted and at all possible.

Queen Street Studio appreciates your time in advance for helping us conduct our research.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey. The purpose of this survey is to better understand the needs and work practices of artists, arts-workers and creative producers so that Queen Street Studio can provide relevant and appropriate services.

Once an industrial slum, this eclectic suburb is now home to some of Sydney’s most eccentric, accomplished and notorious characters, institutions and artists. Themed chaperoned tours will give you an intimate and interactive experience of the cultural life of this infamous precinct... Followed by a wrap/street party in Wellington St when the sun goes down.

Tours commence every 30 minutes from 2pm (tours run for approx 1 hour each) Max 20 people per tour – no pre-bookings... First in!

Queen Street Studio FraserStudios VISUAL ARTS RESIDENCY PROGRAM will offer free workspace in the old Kent Brewery development site, on Broadway. From September 2008, three warehouses at 10-14 Kensington Street, Chippendale will be temporarily transformed into a multi-disciplinary art space.

The initiative will be produced by local not for ...profit arts organisation Queen Street Studio on behalf of developer Frasers Property, and the program will offer a series of four 3-month residencies (12 weeks) to 8-10 visual artists/groups per residency from September 2008 to October 2009.

The space is a rustic no frills warehouse with a common ground floor for all artists to share and 4-5 workspace areas on both the first and second floors.
All floors are open-plan so the ability to work in a shared space with other artists is a prerequisite.

The residencies will be open to professional artists and groups (emerging and established) encompassing a diverse range of practises and outcomes. Collaboration and interdisciplinary exchange is encouraged.

Applications are now open for the first two residency programs:

· First Residency Program: 29 September 2008 – 21 December 2008
· Second Residency Program: 5 January 2008 – 29 March 2009

Applications Open: Thursday 21 August 2008
Applications Close: Friday 5 September 2008
Applicants will be Notified: 17 September 2008

For more information on eligibility and the application process go to www.queenstreetstudio.com/fraserstudios.html
or call/email Sam Chester on 0400 098 988 or sam@queenstreetstudio.com

The FraserStudios Project is a unique chance to access free workspace, to participate in a shared creative environment, to explore new ideas, make new work, engage with the community and be part of a REVOLUTION in how developers use vacant sites in the future.

We are very excited about the project and look forward to hearing from you.
