TB Alert It is with deep regret that we are contacting you to let you know that Seonai Gordon has passed away. Seonai bravely fought TB for many years, while helping to raise awareness of the illness through her work as a journalist and with TB Alert. She will be greatly missed by members of the staff here who came to know her as a close friend. Our thoughts are with her friends and family.

Natalie Louise Winter

Natalie Louise Winter hi, i think most people think that TB is no longer about!! I m not out of he woods yet, as i still have to have a few tests done but im hoping all is well!! I was told i had TB in 2007 and when looking into how i got it was hard as i was young (22) had my TB jab at school never really went overseas!! But then i was asked where i had work and since being 16 i have work in nursing homes and as we had 12 hr shifts i was in contact with ill people for many hours ofthe day. How did your son get TB?? and how old was he? (if you dont maind me asking!!)

Pauline

Pauline I am glad you are better now Natalie. It is an illness that I thought was extinct!! How wrong I was, I now know a lot more about TB and I think TB ALERT is a fantastic charity. People just don't know how serious it is and it can affect anyone. How did you contract TB if you don't mind me asking?

Natalie Louise Winter

Natalie Louise Winter hi Pauline, gald your son has got better. What a shock from saying he has terminal cancer to TB. Many people think you can only get TB in the lungs but as we find out you dont!!! I had TB in kidneys and was also misdiagnosed many times!! And i must say bless all the TB nurses!!!

Pauline

Pauline My son had TB last summer. He was misdiagnosed at first of having terminal cancer. He has made a full recovery thanks to the fabulous TB nurse, Jane, and all the doctors that cared for him. His TB was in his stomach which is rare....

Natalie Louise Winter

Natalie Louise Winter hi, Sagrario i have sent you a personal messege. Hope this helps x

Sagrario Iglesias

Sagrario Iglesias hi my husband died just over three years ago from a TB related illness by the name of Microbacterium Kansasi. He caught TB three times before they diagnosed him with this related illness. Is there anybody out there affected. My children are still suffering by the way that he died. Is there any organisation that could help them. Could I help others in any way

Natalie Louise Winter

Natalie Louise Winter wow nicola i have never heard of that before. Unfortunately here in the UK doctors find it hard to diagnose TB because in the 1970's TB was taken off the curriculum so from then on doctors did not get taught about it. It took doctors years to workout that i had TB in my kidney, i was told in 2007 that i had TB and i am still waiting to see if i have more damage to my kidneys. i hope your mum is ok and gets better soon, and also your family are all ok as illness seems to affect everyone in a family. good luck, take care.

Natalie Louise Winter Well i never knew you could get it in the kidney until 2007 when i was told i had it!! it was a shock and it was too to my GP'S!! even she didnt know you could get it in the kidney. Well before 2005 i had been in and out of hospital with bad pain in the kidney area and it also hurt alot when i had a wee!! when i was pregnant in 2005 i was taken into hospital and the doctors could find nothing wrong with me. agian in 2006 with my second child i was back in hospital with kidney pain, both times i was in for a while. then in 2007 everytime i went foe a wee it felt like i was giving birth (i gave birth twice with no pain relifef and it felt the same!!). i went to the doctors who give me antibioctics over and over again! my tests came back that i had no infection. i stook with it as i knew that something was wrong as it hurt so much. so my doctor did lots of other tests and all came back clear. so she spoke to other doctors and all decide that they could only test me for one more thing.....
