Tacoma Public Library Zimbabwe Artists Project @ the Handforth Gallery.
Making human connections through art.
Colorful painted cloth (called sadza), appliquéd quilts and boards tell
stories of daily life in the small village of Weya, Zimbabwe... washing
and drying clothes, making beer, picking fruit and cooking. Other
artwork vibrantly captures... the surrounding wildlife and
popular folktales. Art from the Zimbabwe village is on exhibition
beginning Thursday, December 3 at the Handforth Gallery in Tacoma's downtown Main Library. The exhibition continues through January 9, 2010. A reception for the exhibition with
Richard Adams, the Executive Director of the Zimbabwe Artists Project,
will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 3 in the gallery. These art pieces make terrific (and very affordable) holiday presents. http://www.tacomapubliclibrary.org
