Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo Introducing “Bokele” (BEH-kay-lay), a rare okapi calf born at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo on October 3, 2009. The 1-month-old okapi calf was named after a township in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), a part of Africa with one of the world’s most intact wilderness areas, from which the species originates. She and her mother “Betty” will be given gradual access to the main outdoor exhibit in December.
