Tau Nu Fiji 25th Anniversary ‐ Frequently Asked Questions

What is it?
It’s a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Tau Nu chapter of Phi Gamma Delta. Officially, Tau Nu was installed on November 3, 1984, but we are conducting this event earlier in order to align with RPI’s reunion week.

When is it?
Events start Friday evening, October 2, 2009 and run through Sunday noon, October 4, 2009.

Who’s invited?
Invitees include graduates and their guests (including kids!), undergraduates and their guests, area Fijis, and a few dignitaries from RPI and IHQ.
4.
Really, kids too?
Yes, we will have kid‐friendly food choices and activities on Friday and Saturday nights (e.g. movies, games), supervised by a professional nanny service (www.anewenglandnanny.com) .
5.
Is there a minimum age for kids?
No, there is no minimum age for children. However, the number of nannies to be used will be largely determined by the age distribution of the kids. A greater number of nannies will be employed given a larger population of younger kids.

I’m an undergrad. Do I pay?
Yes, since we are operating on a net zero budget, undergraduates are required to pay.

How do I register?
Graduates registering for themselves and their guests/kids may do so on‐line: http://www.alumni.rpi.edu/ involved/reunion/register. html
If you prefer, you may do so via mail per the paper registration form mailed by RPI.
Undergraduates should submit ONE combined list of attendees (brothers and guests) for EACH event to shoe@ptc.com

What happens during the Friday reception? What’s the dress code?
Friday’s reception is an informal (e.g. Polo shirt/Dockers type of attire) gathering at RPI’s Academy Hall (15th and Congress Streets, Troy). There will be a cash bar and appetizers. Adult appetizers include chicken tenders, fruit/vegetable platter, and an antipasti platter. Kids appetizers include pigs‐n‐blankets, chicken tenders, and mac‐n‐cheese.

What happens during the Saturday reception and dinner? What’s the dress code?
Saturday’s evening activities begin at 7:00 pm with a reception in the foyer of the ball room. Appropriate attire would be suits/dresses (e.g. like a guest at a wedding). There will be appetizers and a cash bar. The sit‐down dinner will begin at approximately 8:00 pm and will consist of a short program (approximately 3 or 4 speakers) and dancing following the meal.

What are the dinner choices for adults?
Dinner choices are to be made at the time of registration and are as follows:

NY strip steak: Grilled center cut New York strip topped with crispy onions and a demi‐glaze, chef's choice of starch and vegetable.
•
Chicken Mediterranean: Marinated boneless breast of chicken, sun‐dried tomato peso, roasted red & yellow peppers, melted mozzarella cheese, served with chef's choice of starch and vegetable.
•
Eggplant Napoleon: Breaded eggplant layered with tomatoes, ricotta, spinach and topped with fresh tomato sauce, roasted red pepper & drizzled with a balsamic reduction
Additionally, the hotel has expressed their flexibility in being able to accommodate special dietary requests.

What are the kids doing for dinner?
The kids will be located in separate, but adjacent room where they will have snacks (e.g. chips), dinner (pizza, lemonade), play board games, and watch movies. The nannies will staff the room from 6:30‐10:30 pm.

What happens during Sunday brunch? What’s the dress code?
Sunday brunch is an informal buffet with no specific agenda, and no babysitting. Wear whatever you have when you roll out of bed. But brush your teeth first.
15.
What do we do when there are no Fiji‐only events?
If you’re available, you are encouraged to participate in the following free events (please register in advance).
•
Friday, October 2, 6:00 p.m.: Greek Chowderfest @ RSE
• Saturday, October 3, 11:00 a.m.: FanFest and Opening of New East Campus Athletic Village
Of course, you are free to do your own unsocial thing if you feel the need. But, doing so might invite mocking.

6. Do I need to physically check in when I get there? Where?
Yes, you need to pick up your registration packet at the Heffner Alumni House, 1301 Peoples Avenue during the following times.
