Teach English in China
Earthquake update:
We have contacted all our teachers currently in China. Thankfully everyone is OK.
The summer programmes are going forward as planned. The city of Wuhan, where the internship programme takes place, is a few hundred miles to the east of the quake's epicenter and it appears to be largely unaffected.

Howdy all,
A few China-related links you might be interested in:
1) A New Yorker article on "Crazy English" -- you may have heard of it, a sort of shouting approach to learning English. The article says that the creator, "is China’s Elvis of English, perhaps the world’s only language teacher known to bring... students to tears of excitement." -- Something to aspire to when you go to China to teach? Here is the link: http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/ 04/28/080428fa_fact_osnos
2) The May issue of National Geographic is all about China. Much of the content is online: http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2008/0 5/table-of-contents
There is an interesting section where people have submitted their own pictures of China.
3) You can check out a documentary about school in China on the BBC's I Player. Not sure if the first broadcast is still available (but try clicking on it despite what it says...it worked recently for me). The second broadcast is still there.Read More

SUMMER TEACHING OPPORTUNITY
As you may know, over the last month we have been organizing a language training programme with Beijing Language and Cultural University (to take place during the Olympics in August).
We have met with students and professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds and several have suggested that... they are very interested in going to China during the summer, but think they would rather teach English than study Mandarin.
So we have responded by teaming up with a school in the Chinese city of Wuhan; where a very limited number of teaching internships (5 or less) will be offered during the summer. You have to be willing to commit for a month. Accommodation and facilities are included, the monthly salary however is less than for a normal 11 month teaching contract.
This opportunity is ideal for people who want to travel in China during the summer, either before of after the internship. Contact: info@teach-english-in-china.co.uk for more details. Read More
