Proposed new search powers for teachers

This week, Sir Alan Steer submitted his ‘Behaviour Review’. His recommendations could have far-reaching implications for the work of teachers, including a greater emphasis on them searching pupils contained in the 2006 Violent Crime Reduction Act.

Other suggestions include a review of the support available to school staff subjected to cyberbullying by the Cyberbullying Taskforce and the way the whole school community responds to indiscipline such as school policy.

Teacher Support Network are running a short survey asking teachers to respond to the recommendations. We’re interested in hearing your reaction to the report. Results will be published in an article in the Times Educational Supplement on Friday.

To take the survey, please click here.
