It is with deep sadness we note the passing of the great Mitch Mitchell: http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hAB55 HVz01BxrJUrwe7GMl3uSntwD94DN81G0
Bio, pix and recordings: http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/Mit ch_Mitchell.html
On a personal note, Mitchell is one of my heroes. His combination of technical skill, musical sensibility, and deep understanding of time will always serve among the best examples of the drum set art. Who else could have played on equal terms with Hendrix? For me, the profound musical relationship between Hendrix & Mitchell has few matches, on the same plane as Coltrane & Jones. The death of Mitch Mitchell leaves a great void in the percussion world, with no possible successor in sight.
