Ann The only thing to do in Albany, was cruzing the strip, and then maybe a movie or two. This was before the mall was built. You could go to a Frat Party over in Corvallis, at one of the fraternities at OSU, or maybe somebody knew a party at a friend of a friend, and then by the time you would get there was nothing to dri...nk and the music was loud and the people were already had left. Man there was just nothing to do in Albany. Of course LBCC at a dance occasionally, but you knew that Sherri's was open 24 hr's in Lebanon, or you would hang out at the Big "O" in Corvallis. Oh, yeah of course if you like Izzy's pizza, or going to the Buzz Saw, T&R or Tom Tom, Hasty Freeze, and King Kone and for chinese Ping's Garden.

Ann Does anybody remember Bryant Park flooding every winter, the marker would show at least 10 feet of water. The baseball diamonds would be covered, the water would come up to the roof lines of all the covered picnic area's. The Willamette and the Calapooia river would flood every year.

Tina Noack Greiner Sadness of sadness - they tore down the old Marco Polo Motel! LOL Couldn't be any happier to see that old eye go away. It needed to be gone like 30 years ago!!!!

Brent Yastrop Moved to Albany in 1990 when I was in 3rd Grade and went to good old Waverly school....would always stare across the street at the Pay-N-Pak building. I remember Rax in front of Albertson's, best baked potatoes in fast food.... and Emporium in that complex next to Payless, then the Emporium spot was used for Recreatio...n Station. I think Recreation Station would have been a hit if it had been opened in a bigger city....

Sarah Schmidt Berger Anybody attend St. Mary's school in the 1970s? If you have fond memories of the sisters, some of them still live in Mt. Angel at The Benedictine Convent and if you are in the area, they love to have past students come and visit, they also have places to stay overnight there and it is very peaceful. Hello to any of my school mates.

John,
I don't know you, but I think I live in your house across from St. Mary's. People have told me that the Sanders family once lived here. How handy for you to go to St. Mary's. My kids make the short walk to Central.

Sarah Schmidt Berger Me and my 9 siblings ( Schmidts) grew up on W. 7th street. We came back to Albany this past September to celebrate our mom's 80th birthday and to have a Sister's weekend at The Pfeiffer Cottage, B & B. A memory I have, and I have many, is walking to Hasty Freeze and getting ice cream, so us sisters walked around Alban...y and went and had some ice cream, still yummy. Hi all.

Hi Vickie, I remember Prairie Market, did you guys ever shop there. Martha and I would ride on the flat bed grocery cart and there were little black crayons that we would mark the prices on the items as mom handed them to us to put in the cart because that is how they did the price marking, they let the customers mark the boxes before bringing them... See More to the register, now that I think about that, that is really trusting that we were marking the correct price, of course, knowing mom, we were very exact, with 10 kids we really filled the cart.

Anneliese Has anyone posted about the year the prison almost got built way out there on Columbus St.? I lived right across the road from the field it was to be developed on. Remember when there was just open field behind South Albany HS? I went to grade school at Albany Christian School/First Baptist.....when I was in second gra...de (1990/91) at 2ish in the afternoon there was this guy who would walk down the street next to the playground fence. He wore the craziest sweaters, a fedora, had a curly blonde mullet and was probably in his early 20's. I know it's a long shot, but does anyone know him? I've always been insanely curious as to who he was. That part of town is scary now :D
