The Ancient Egypt Site The creation of a new version of The Ancient Egypt Site is not done purely out of a desire to change things, but mostly out of the need to make the addition of new pages and the maintenance of existing ones a whole lot easier for me. The way things are with the current version, a lot of technical mumbo-jumbo is require...d just to create a page that will run on several browsers.
The Ancient Egypt Site I am considering to remove the chapter "Ancient Egypt Bibliography" from the new version of the site. Statistics show that this chapter is one of the least visited. In addition, each page of the site will have a list of 10 to 20 "recommended" books that are related to that page's main subject, so the bibliographical in...formation won't be lost by removing the "bibliography" chapter.
The Ancient Egypt Site It has been quite some time since The Ancient Egypt Site has had a real updated. This is the result of the quest for a better layout with a smaller technical footprint. The quest itself has come to an end, but it will take time to implement the new layout. Until then there will be no significant updates to the site. I ...hope that somewhere in 2010, all the pages will be converted and the new version can go online.
The Ancient Egypt Site The conversion of the signlist is going well. The way it has been created, opens up an opportunity to, one day, add a new chapter to the Language section: a Dictionary. At first, this would be limited to words used as examples in the signlist, but it could easily be extended. Of course, first the signlist and the other pages need to be converted.
The Ancient Egypt Site The Ancient Egypt Site's new design and layout have been long in the making. First as a thought, and then finally, a few experiments. Some experiments were scrapped. Only one remained. The challenge will now not only be to convert the more than 800 pages the site already has to the new style, but to add new content as well.
