Pardon my lack of posts today. Between my online video chats with my husband while he’s in Kazakhstan, trying to get people to vote for me (I’m behind people!), I took a trip to Myersville, MD with Jessica from Design Wonderland to visit our friends Kat and Susan. i decided to listen to what my horoscope said on Sunday, “you’ll also just want to enjoy some pleasant socializing with the people...

It’s beginning to look a lot like the holidays already. I’m seeing Christmas decorations up and we just finished with Halloween! I’ve done some black Friday shopping in the past but I have friends that are serious black Friday shoppers. They get all the fliers, map it out, plan their game plan for the day and get every single thing on their list at the best prices ever....

For this Monday’s Manicure, I’m doing something different. I tried out China Glaze’s (@ChinaGlaze on Twitter) Atlantis nail polish, a glitter aqua shade. What I did a bit differently was add the Magic Matte Top Coat by China Glaze on top. I’ve been waiting a while to get the top coat and it finally came in stock in a little bottle at my local Sally Beauty Supply Store. I should’ve taken a...

In the summer Zoya Nail Polish {@Zoya_NailPolish on Twitter} ran a contest to get followers and when they reached their magic number all of their followers could get free nail polish. When that happened, I order a Zoya Hot Lips in Purr along with my pretty polishes (that’s how they suck you in). Purr is a deep mauve almost purple shade of lipgloss that’s sheer and feels like a lip balm when...

Yesterday I popped into the Body Shop (@theBodyShopusa on Twitter) at Union Station while I was waiting for a friend to get off the train. I’m not going to lie. I’m kind of obsessed with the Big Buddha Mia bag. This year is the first year I’m going to a Halloween party. Yup, I haven’t dressed up since I was 8. So after much thought and contemplation, I’ve decided to go as one of my favorite Real Housewives of Atlanta… Kim Zolciak!!! Oh I love the crazy blonde wigs, the single cigarette that always seems to be hanging out of ...her mouth, the over the top bling, the boobs. I love it all! I’ve got a great red cocktail dress, lots of bling, false lashes, but last night I picked up the best part of the costume. There’s something about a wig (and false lashes) that seems to make me become another person. It’s so ridiculously long and insane and I LOVE IT! Best costume idea ever. If only I had her sparkly Louboutin heels, my outfit would be complete. So what are you going to be for Halloween? Tell me! dwj Read More

This weekend I was supposed to go hear a Q&A with Christian Louboutin at Neiman Marcus but it was rainy and Tyson’s Corner is so far from my house. So I cleaned up my house and then I saw on Twitter that a few bloggers I met when I was in NY for the Vivienne Tam HP Mini Meet-up were in DC for a launch of Windows 7. So... in 7 minutes I got out of my pajamas and I got dressed and went to the Best Buy at Potomac Yard and in addition to meeting up with Gear Diary I got to meet Sleepy Floyd, a retired NBA player. Can I tell you that this man smelled heavenly? There’s nothing better than a black man that smells fantastic. I got a picture, an autograph and a few moments with a very nice man. I didn’t pick up Windows 7 for my husband (he actually needs a new laptop) but if anyone else did let me know what you think about it. I’m very curious. dwj P.S. Have you completed my reader survey yet? I’ve got a great prize I’m giving away to anyone who fills it out! Read More

It’s Monday. I had one of those weekends where it was rainy and grey and that made me feel grey on the inside too, but I was semi-productive and I updated the site. I hope you like the changes and there’s still more work to do, but I’m doing it all slowly in pieces. Now on to today’s manicure, Lippmann Collection in ‘...Don’t Tell Mama,’ a shimmery blue/green color. This is the first time I’ve reviewed a Deborah Lippman Collection color, only because they’re $18 a bottle (in the same league as Rescue Beauty Lounge colors). This photo makes it look black but really, it’s a gorgeous shimmering teal. What I’ve also learned is that the more expensive a polish it, the better it covers and lasts. This polish lasted chip free for 7 days. I had minimal wear at the tips and when I painted my nails, it glided on flawlessly. If I could I would buy ALL the Lippmann Collection colors, they’re very unique and lots of them are very sparkly. Have any of you tried a Lippman Collection color? What’s your favorite? dwj Read More
