The Bad Pitch Blog
Bloggers send more than a few emails asking to be removed from a media list, we also send emails to PR people to tell them why a pitch doesn’t work for their blog – and perhaps what might work in the future.I rarely receive a response from these notes – which is unfortunate and yet telling. But ...

I'll get right to the point: PR is not the dark side any more.As a reporter for a plethora of publications in the hard-to-remember '80s, I do recall titters from my colleagues when I defected to PR. I had to make more money and I couldn't cope with holier-than-thou editors...

Interesting article. I don't have a lot of time to give proper thought and comments to this, however off the top of my head I have the following to say.

Corporations seek particular kinds of creativity which help them to reduce costs, increase the effectiveness of communications flow and assist with decision making. In doing so they are seeking continuity through a steady chug that is predictable and manageable. This is meant to have a direct or even indirect impact on the bottom line. Ultimately and let us never forget, a business is there for their bottom line. Without it, they can't exist. Be it a charity incorporated or a blue chip. No money is a surefire way to ensure an eventual death of jobs.

My generalisation applies to "most" corporations, as not all will fit my particular opinion. ... Read More

"Big corporations aren’t organized so that the people with ideas are respected for them."

I could not agree with you more. I would caveat with "Most big corporations..."

There are reasons why this happens. They need to be encountered and shared as well.

Corporations due to their size are not geared towards creativity throughout the organisation, because this would cause too much chaos. Fear of ridicule, herding and punishment are also factors to be considered. Countering this. Nothing of note ever came from a lack... Read More of action. You and I are here on this planet due to some action some time ago, not an idle thought. More is not created from less, however less can be derived from more through ... wait for it ... the creative process.

Enough hair splitting for now. Thanks for the piece. :)
