Karen Reedy-Wilcox

Karen Reedy-Wilcox I don't know if I have asked this before, but...why does someone not choreograph a 3 act ballet about King Henry VIII and his six wives? This would be a monumental role for a male dancer and the wives could be portrayed in short vignettes as a dream or there are thousand of other possibilities....MacMillan could have done a great job at this!

The Ballet Bag When we interviewed ABT's Daniil Simkin earlier this month he said he was covering a few principal roles but had no scheduled debuts yet. He tweeted yesterday that during the company's visit to Beijing he ended up taking on Don Q. Act 3 opposite Yuriko Kajiya at very short notice. Were you there? If so, did he rock? Please do share with us!!

The Ballet Bag Our thoughts on Birmingham Royal Ballet's very accessible & funny Cyrano. A perfect choice for first timers & families

Source: theballetbag.wordpress.com
For a while we have been meaning to write something here about “ballet myth busters”, to address certain preconceptions about this art form often seen as inaccessible, stuffy and niche. David Bintley’s Cyrano might be just what we needed to illustrate how ballet can be demystified. ...

Concepts such as coding, decoding, generative systems, algorithms, computer programming, neuroscience and cognitive mapping seem more akin to geek lingo than ballet choreography and yet all these notions inform Wayne McGregor’s dance making.
