- The Blood Center of Iowa is an independent, not-for-profit, federally licensed organization that provides blood and blood products to hospitals. Since 1963, The Blood Center has relied upon volunteer blood donors to maintain an adequate blood supply.

The Blood Center of Iowa
In August, Mike Collins suffered a fracture to his hip, caused by a tumor that turned out to be renal carcinoma cancer. After that, Mike experienced a number of serious complications, including pneumonia, a stroke, internal bleeding, skin rashes, a bowel obstruction and a blood clot.
Mike passed away on Saturday, Octob...er 17th, 2009. He used approximately 30 units of blood and 6 units of platelets during his battle with cancer.
The Collins family would like to invite everyone to participate in this special blood drive in memory and in honor of Mike.
